THIRD NATURE has been selected for the parallel assignment for Dokken in Bergen, Norway in strong competition against 22 teams.
Together with our collaborators from Entasis, MATTER by Brix and MOE we have been selected as one of three teams to provide input and visions to the City of Bergen regarding their old industrial area Dokken and what its future should look like.
With the parallel assignment the City of Bergen wants to get input and fresh ideas on how the city should develop this new and sustainable district, as an extension of Bergen’s city centre.
The other two teams consist of Asplan Viak AS with MAD Architects and others and ÅF Advansia AS with Vill Urbanisme and others on the team. The parallel assignment is scheduled in the period May-September.
From an industrial area to a future-oriented district
The 62 acres big cargo port area Dokken will be released for urban development purposes when the industrial activities will be moved out of Bergen. At the same time, more than 1.5 km of waterfront will become publicly available to the citizens.
The goal of the parallel assignment is to give input and work on a development strategy for how Dokken becomes a lively, inspiring and climate-neutral district with variety and diversity in housing, trade, service, culture and recreation.

Third Nature in Bergen
With the participation at Dokken, we continue our work in Bergen, where we are already present at Nøstet another prominent building site in Bergen, situated centrally in the city between the historic district and the water front. At Nøstet we work with the masterplan, buildings and landscape for OBOS and EGD in close collaboration with MAD Arkitekter.
