TREDJE NATUR is on to phase 2 of BørneRiget along with our team consisting of Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects, MOE, CREO ARKITEKTER, Keingart and Smith Innovation. In this next phase we will develop our proposal further to become the visionary building that will shape a better user experience, functionality and integration of treatment, research and education.
With BørneRiget Denmark will have the world’s best hospital for treating children, youths, birthings and their families. It is a unique and important assignment, which we are excited to go even further into depth with here in the competition phase. We have sought to build a bridge between the natural and the urban environment, and thereby give it the shape of a modern hybrid, that becomes a manifestation and is more than only the sum of its different parts. It is our wish that the house is a promoter that can establish an entirely new treatment culture as well as fraternize the contrasts in the urban situations and generously give back to the city in the form of its own illuminating example.
“As a building it can be a beacon – for the city and as an expression for a society’s ambition and capability. Based on community, knowledge and experience. Naturally anchored in its time and open toward the incoming (…) And then a touch of fairydust!”
COMMENTS FROM THE JURY
”The jury finds that this projects provides a high degree of sympathetic insight in a future children’s hospital’s unique characteristics. The sculptural approach will create a significant building, which solves the programmes prerequisites and wishes in a great way. There is of course a bunch of challenges, but it is assessed that these can be worked on in the negotiation phase. The proposal has great potential in terms of accessibility. We are talking about a very thoroughly prepared proposal with a high attention to detail, which shows great insight and comprehension for the organization of the different specialists in a clinical context. The proposal is set as the winner of the project competition. ”
