WELCOME TO NHN
The team sees nature in NHN as an inviting and pragmatic resource. The openness of the building is especially prevalent in the way that landscape and the building are intertwined on all levels. The physical environment we create around the hospital intuitively gives meaning to the users. It is humane. It is generous. Ultimately, we the environments create different types of social interactions, work collaboration, and health related activities. The architectural expression is based on an organic, soft, and humanitarian composition.

Judges comments:
The strength of this proposal lies in the analytical approach to the landscape that is integrated into the body of the building and softens the large, linear building. The differentiation in the floors give a calming, balanced effect to the facade. The connection to the landscape is exemplary.

The strength of this proposal lies in the analytical approach to the landscape that is integrated into the body of the building and softens the large, linear building.

The transition between the two layers of the building are expressed in a long traffic ramp, which pulls infrastructural functions in between the building. The large building is made smaller by creating two arches that mark the entrances towards Hillerød in the north and the new station areas  in the southeast. This creates the main concept in the organization of the wards and a curved, but strict form.

HIGH-LINE
The high line is an open and spectacular space that makes wayfinding, knowledge sharing, and synergy easy. The high-line is the spine of the building, that connections the hospital with the city and the surrounding nature. The primary flow to and through the hospital happens via the east-west space, that flows through the hospital on many levels. In the eastern direction the high-line connections to to Kilepladsen in the future development station area in Hillerød Syd. In the west, there is space to connect to future additions to the hospital and developments around Favrholm. The high-line has the potential to show new ways of

organizing a hospital because it is a large, exciting space that is open to the public. Because of the size of the hospital and central location in the center of this large, new development, the team is convinced the high-line will be used at all times of day. The hospital is thereby connected to the nature and the city and creates everyday life, for the hospital and the city. The high-line is nestled between the upper and lower processing functions and are flanked on both sides by the wards. The flexibility of the buildings mean that recreational and cultural functions can be used 24/7/356 which is a good idea in an open hospital.
